What If …
Most of us, if not all of us, have had the thought, “What if”.
I would image many times this “what if” is in reference to a reflective thought, maybe wishing we would have gone through with the “what if”. Or “what if” you could go back in time and change some event, occurrence. But what if we changed the narrative at this instant, not asking a question but giving a statement. The mentality that from this moment on, what if I __________.
What if for the next 30 days a get up at 5:00am and run?
What if I read for one hour a day instead of watching TV for that time?
What if I smile at least one person an hour while in others presence?
What if I put my phone down /away when talking to someone?
Then you make this question becomes reality. It is non-negotiable. You just do this activity with your best intensions, with your most positive attitude, accepting whatever outcome may come to be at the end.
In order to get wet, one has to get into the water. Many times, fear of failure, rejection, being laughed at prevents us from exploring those things that may bring us such great joy. Many times, the fear of having to work hard, put the time in, suffer some pain (mental or physical) prevents us from going through with the task. To be able to silence those fears and believe in ourselves I believe holds us back from who we are ultimately supposed to be in this life.
“Sign the contract” with yourself, it becomes non-negotiable and see where your life takes you. Be inspiaired to have these goals, be inspiared to see them through, be inspiaired to see how what-if become what’s-next and we all don’t look back. The rear-view mirror is small for a reason, the front window is large for a reason, go see what is in front of you, and enjoy the process of life.
